Pay As You Ride and Annual Pass

• How much does it cost?

  Pacers Bikeshare is $1 to ride and 15 cents per minute for the duration of the trip with no time limitations. Annual passes can be purchased for $125 for unlimited 60 minute trips for any trips lasting longer than 60 minutes will be charged 15 cents per minute. • Can I access the Pacers Bikeshare if I don't have a credit card?

  Pacers Bikeshare requires that all accounts be associated with a credit or debit card.
  
  Please contact Customer Service at 317-653-1947 if you are having trouble using your credit/debit card at a kiosk. 

• What is a Pacers Bikeshare Access Card and how does it work?

  A Pacers Bikeshare Access Card allows users to release a bike directly at the dock rather than using the station kiosk. The cards contain an RFID chip uniquely associated with each account. When the Access Card is presented at a dock, the system will confirm good standing and associate the card with the bicycle they are checking out.

• How do I get a Pacers Bikeshare Access Card?

  Pacers Bikeshare Access Cards are issued with each new annual pass purchase. The Access Cards will be sent by mail to the address provided at registration within one week. Any replacement cards after the first card issued will incur a $5 replacement fee. 

• How often is my credit card charged for Pacers Bikeshare fees?

  A user’s credit card is charged once to begin riding. The $1 to checkout a bike will be charged at that time and fees incurred for the duration of the trip at a rate of 15 cents per minute will be charged at the end of the day.
  

  
  Example: If you checkout a bike 3 different times you will see 3 $1 charges on your statement and 3 separate charges for the amount of your 3 trips. 

  For Annual there will be an initial charge at the time of registration and thereafter there will be a monthly charge for usage fees on the first of each month for the duration of the pass. *(it can be tracked on the app now too)
  

• How does Pacers Bikeshare determine the ending date for pass periods described as "annual”?

  Pass periods begin at the time of purchase. Annual passes expire exactly 365 days from the date of purchase.

• Can I buy a membership for someone as a gift?

  Yes. You may purchase a Gift Certificate for an Annual Pass or by calling Customer Service at (317) 653-1947.
  
  Once purchased through Indyculturaltrail.org, you will receive a customizable gift certificate via email with a promo code, redeemable for one annual pass.

• How does the Pacers Bikeshare Bike cable-lock work?

  

• Is it legal to ride a bike without a helmet?

  Adults may legally ride a bike without a helmet in most places in the United States, but Indianapolis Cultural Trail, Inc. strongly recommends wearing a helmet whenever riding a Pacers Bikeshare bike.

• Does Pacers Bikeshare provide helmets for riders?

  No. There are hygiene and safety issues with shared helmet use. It is the responsibility of the rider to supply his or her own helmet. Helmets are available for purchase or rental at the following places:

• Can I check out a bike immediately after returning a bike?

  Once a Pacers Bikeshare Bike is returned to a station, You may immediately check out a bike for $1 and 15 cents per minute for the duration of the trip. If you have an Annual Pass you may immediately check out another bike within your pass period.

• What do the lights and sounds on the dock signify?

  A Pacers Bikeshare dock beeps when a bike has been unlocked or when the bike has been returned.
  
  When the bike is unlocked, the dock beeps continuously until the bike is removed (or 30 seconds, whichever comes first). The green light will also flash from the time the bike is unlocked until it is removed from the dock.
  
  When a bike is returned and properly inserted into the dock, the dock will beep three times very quickly, and the green light will likewise blink three times very rapidly.
  
  If the red “X” is lit on the dock, there is a problem with either the bike or the dock itself. Try a different dock!
  
  If the orange “bad card” sign is lit, we need to talk to you about a problem with your membership. Just call Customer Service at (317) 653-1947 which is printed on your Annual Membership card, and displayed on the bikes, map module and kiosk.

• Can minors participate in Pacers Bikeshare?

  Pacers Bikeshare is intended for users over the age of 18. Indianapolis Cultural Trail, Inc. expects each rider to be individually responsible for his or her Pacers Bikeshare bike.

• When is the Pacers Bikeshare system available?

  The Pacers Bikeshare system is available 24/7 365 days a year.

• Is the Pacers Bikeshare system open all year?

  The Pacers Bikeshare operates 365 days a year.
  
  Bikes can be returned any time, regardless of whether the system is open or closed. Three beeps and three green blinks indicate a successful return.

• What if I have a flat tire?

  Please return a bike with a flat tire to the nearest Pacers Bikeshare station and report to Customer Service with the 4-digit number on the left side of the frame near the pedals. If it is not possible to get the bike to a station, you must properly secure the bike with the built-in lock and contact Customer Service at (317) 653-1947.

• What if I am involved in an accident?

  If there has been an injury, please call 911 first. Contact Customer Service at (317) 653-1947 at the earliest appropriate time. If you are qualified to administer first aid and there is a need, please help out to the limit of your abilities. As in any accident, exchange information with any other affected party and collect contact information from witnesses.

• What if a station is full and I need to find an empty dock to return a bike?

  Use the Pacers Bikeshare Mobile App "Bcycle" or website map for current bike and dock availability at any station.
  
  If you have a bike you wish to return but there are no available docks at a station, you must locate a station with available docks and return the bike there. The kiosk located at each station will provide real-time information about which nearby stations have available docks under “More Options”. 

• What if a station is empty, but I want to check out a bike?

  Use the Pacers Bikeshare Mobile App "Bcycle" or website map for current bike and dock availability at any station.
  
  You can also use the kiosk to search for nearby stations with bikes available from “More Options.”

• What if I want to reserve a bike?

  Pacers Bikeshare is a bike-sharing system designed to promote the constant use and turnover of bikes for short journeys. For this reason Pacers Bikeshare does not allow members to reserve a bike.

• What if I want to keep a bike all day or longer?

  Pacers Bikeshare is a bike-sharing system designed to promote the constant use and turnover of bikes for short journeys. You may keep a bike out all day, but you will be charged $1 for the initial checkout and 15 cents per minute for the duration of the trip.
  
  

• How do I find stations?

  Use the Pacers Bikeshare mobile app "B-Cycle" or website map for station locations and current bike and dock availability. A map of the full bikeshare system is displayed at every station.

• Docking Convenience Fee

  If a rider is unsure a bike has been correctly docked at a bike share station and requests that ICT, Inc. and Pacers Bikeshare staff confirm the bike’s  status, ICT, Inc. will provide one check for free with no applicable fees. After the initial free check, riders who request ICT, Inc. staff check on a bike’s docked status they will be charged a $15.00 convenience fee each time they make the request unless it is deemed that the bike is not properly checked in to the system due to a Pacers Bikeshare system error.

  Bikeshare is a public bicycle sharing system where bicycles are available to individuals to use for a fee. In Indy, a network of 50 bike stations are located within a few blocks of one another on or near the Indianapolis Cultural Trail: A Legacy of Gene and Marilyn Glick.
  
  Pacers Bikeshare is $1 to ride and 15 cents per minute for the duration of the trip with no time limitation. Annual passes can be bought online, and gives you access to any of the bikes at any station. Pick up a bike from a station near to you and ride it to any other bike station.

• Who Operates the Pacers Bikeshare?

  Indianapolis Cultural Trail, Inc. (ICT, Inc.), a not-for-profit organization, will operate the Indiana Pacers Bikeshare. ICT, Inc. also manages and maintains the Indianapolis Cultural Trail: A Legacy of Gene and Marilyn Glick.

• Why is it called Indiana Pacers Bikeshare?

  Thanks to a generous contribution from the Herb Simon Family Foundation, owner of the Indiana Pacers, the Pacers are title sponsors of the Indy bikeshare program. Indianapolis Cultural Trail, Inc. (ICT, Inc.) owns and manages the system.

• How Large is the System?

  The Indiana Pacers Bikeshare system has 50 stations and 525 bikes. Look at the station map and find the stations closest to where you live, work and/or play downtown!

• How is the System Funded?

  The capital equipment for the system is funded by a federal Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) grant from the Federal Highway Administration.  Annual passes and walk up user fees, grants and sponsorships will fund the on-going operation of the bikeshare program.

• What about the Bikeshare Bike?

  Imagine a bike that is always ready to ride, where and when you want to ride it. The tires are always inflated and the chain is never rusty. It’s a bike with two baskets to carry your things, front and rear lights and an adjustable seat that fits people tall and short. It’s a bike that is available whenever you need it, and safely tucked back at a station when you don’t. And it’s powered by the ultimate alternative fuel: you.

• How does Pacers Bikeshare work?

  Pacers Bikeshare relies on the integration of hardware and software to keep track of members and bikes, and all the interactions between users and bikes. Proprietary GPS and RFID technologies make it possible for bike sharing to be so smart that it is simple for users.

• Who is B-cycle?

  The Indiana Pacers Bikeshare is a customized B-cycle system. B-cycle is a leader in bike-sharing programs. It’s a bike-sharing program that meets the transportation, health, and environmental needs of our communities. One that adapts to any size city, corporation, or campus. It’s free and spontaneous, but also practical.
  
  B-cycle is the only bike-sharing program that measures the actual distance traveled on each ride and keeps track of the calories you've burned and the carbon emissions you’ve prevented. All this information is available on your personal member account.
  
  B-cycle is in collaboration with Trek Bicycle Corporation.
  
  

Your Pacers Bikeshare Account Management

• How do I renew my Pacers Bikeshare Pass?

  Log into your My Account either online or through the mobile app and click "Renew" button from the "My Summary" page.

  Select a pass type and verify your Credit Card information. You can also edit any personal information in your Profile before submitting payment.  For Annual Passes, your Access Card will automatically link.

  If you receive a corporate discount, it is recommended to not opt-in to Auto Renew.

  
  

• Will I still be able to access my personal Pacers Bikeshare web page after my pass period ends?

  Personal pages may be accessed at any time, however, personal ride stats reset on the first of the year.

• What if I lose my Annual Access Card?

  Call Customer Service at (317) 653-1947 immediately so that we can suspend the card and prevent anyone else from using your card to gain access to a bicycle for which you are financially responsible.

  A replacement card can be provided for a $5 replacement fee.

  While waiting for your replacement Access Card to arrive, you can check out bikes using the B-Cycle app, or the credit card or cell phone number associated with your Pacers Bikeshare pass.

  
  

  
  

• What if I don’t agree with a credit card charge?

  After reviewing the Pricing structure, please call Customer Service at (317) 653-1947 if you still have questions.

• What if I want to cancel my membership?

  Membership fees are non-refundable, but if you wish to suspend your account to prevent any new usage fees, please call Customer Service at (317) 653-1947

• How can my Access Card get denied?

  Upon presenting your Membership Card at a station kiosk or dock for authentication, the system checks whether your account is in good standing. If there is a problem, your card will be denied. If you are receiving an error, you may have an outstanding charge or still have a bike checked out. Please call Customer Service at (317) 653-1947 to determine the cause of the problem.

• How do I receive or stop text notifications?

  When registering, you can choose whether you want to receive text notifications. You can change that preference anytime by logging into My Account, view the My Profile tab and edit your profile information.  There you will see a checkbox labeled "Contact me via SMS".

  
  

• How do I change or update my credit card information?

  Log into your Account page online or in the B-Cycle App and click on "My Profile". Here you can edit your information to update or change the credit card linked to your account.  Note that this is the same card that must be used at a kiosk to checkout a Pacers Bikeshare Bike. You may also call Customer Service at (317) 653-1947 for assistance.
  

• What should I do if a bike gets damaged while I have it checked out?

  Return a damaged bike to a bike station and contact Customer Service at (317) 653-1947. If that is not possible, use the lock on the bikeshare bike to securely lock it to a bike rack or pole and contact Customer Service. Please provide Customer Service with the 4 digit bike number located on the left side of the frame near the pedals. Do not ride a bike with damage that affects its safety features.
  
  Members are financially liable for damages to bikes under their care. Refer to Terms and Conditions.

• What if I lose the key to the on-board cable lock?

  Contact Customer Service at (317) 653-1947.  You may be liable for replacement of a lost key.

• What if the bike is stolen? Will I be financially responsible for the loss of the bike?

  Contact Customer Service at (317) 653-1947. Under the Terms and Conditions agreed to upon registering for membership, members may be liable up to a specified limit if a bicycle is stolen or lost while under their care. Refer to the Terms and Conditions for Pacers Bikeshare.

• When does my Pass period begin?

  Your Annual Pass begins on the date of purchase.

• How do I find my personal ride statistics?

  Information about your Pacers Bikeshare use can be found in your personal Account page online or on the B-Cycle app.  Once logged in, you can view the date and duration of each trip, the station where the bike was checked out and the station where the bike was returned, distance pedaled, usage fees (if any), the associated calories burned, and carbon offset.

  You can also choose to share your rider stats on the site’s Leaderboard with your fellow Pacers Bikeshare riders if desired. Simply check the box “Include my ride data” in My Summary.

  
  

• How does Pacers Bikeshare calculate my miles ridden, etc.?

  Pacers Bikeshare Bikes are equipped with an internal GPS device that tracks the bike’s trips. Algorithms translate the trip information into estimates of the number of calories burned and carbon emissions avoided (as compared to the use of an average automobile for the same trip).

• Can I get more than one bike with my credit card?

  You can get up to 6 bikes on a single credit card. Note that the same card must be presented at the kiosk each time a bike is checked out.  Annual Passes will each be issued their own Pacers Bikeshare Access Card for access to the system.
